Two men remain hospitalized after they got into a shootout in southwest Atlanta over a disputed car repair. Once they have sufficiently recuperated, both will likely face felony charges for their apparent violent crimes. Because both men are convicted felons with existing criminal records, they are likely to be charged with aggravated assault.
Although authorities still have not quite put it all together, it seems like one of the men was angry over what he felt were inferior repairs made to his Oldsmobile Cutlass. When the mechanic did not address his concerns to his satisfaction, the argument got heated.
Eventually, the men shot at one another. The owner was shot three times in the chest, but was still in good-enough physical shape to drive away from the scene. The mechanic was shot in the groin. A spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department said both men are expected to survive.
Police have not identified either man and have not gone into length on either's condition. They have stressed that their investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Looking at this situation, it seems that we have two people who cannot deal with anger and frustration in acceptable and constructive ways. It's unfortunate, because each has been physically harmed as a result and, on top of that, will likely face prison time if they are convicted. Learning how to handle and control one's emotions is an important life skill, but some people just never get the chance to develop it. As a result, society as a whole suffers.
